The Legend of Dragoon: Dragon Campaign (a fan prequel)
A downloadable game for Windows
Eleven thousand years before the legend, humanity lived in chains beneath an empire in the sky. Until seven rose.
Dragon Campaign is a free, unofficial fan prequel to The Legend of Dragoon (1999). It tells the story of the Dragon Campaign: Zieg, Rose, Shirley, Belzac, Kanzas, Damia and Syuveil, the first Dragoons, and the war that broke the Winglies' hold on the world.
WHAT'S IN IT
- The whole war: a prologue, fourteen chapters, an epilogue, and an evening after the credits.
- Timed-press Additions in the style of the original, with Perfects, counters and Break Runes.
- Dragoon transformations, each with its own spells and its own timing game for its attacks.
- Two stances for every hero, switched mid-battle: a tank, a healer, a bard with a lyre, a knife-thrower, a tactician.
- Big bosses with phases, telegraphed attacks and mechanics to learn.
- Bounty hunts, a forge that turns rare parts into unique gear, side quests, and a bestiary.
- Dragon's Dream: a separate roguelite mode with relics, events and a different run every time.
- Easy, Normal and Hard, changeable any time.
HOW TO PLAY
- In your browser: https://dragon-campaign.pages.dev (Chrome or Edge on a computer works best).
- On Windows 10 or 11: download the Windows zip, extract it, and run "Install Dragon Campaign.bat" (or "Dragon Campaign.exe" without installing). Windows may warn that the app isn't recognised, because it isn't code-signed: click "More info", then "Run anyway".
CONTROLS
Keyboard or gamepad (Xbox or PlayStation style). The mouse isn't used, so phones and tablets aren't supported.
- Move / choose: arrow keys or WASD
- Confirm, and the timing presses in battle: Z, Enter or Space
- Back, and counters: X or Backspace
- Menu: C or Tab
- Walk softly: Shift
- Controls page: F1 or P
- Fullscreen (desktop app): F11
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
- A computer with a graphics card or chip from the last several years.
- Browser version: Chrome or Edge (WebGPU) works best. Firefox and Safari use the WebGL2 fallback. The game downloads each area as you reach it, about 1.4 GB over a whole playthrough.
- Desktop version: Windows 10 or 11, about 2 GB of free space.
- If it runs slowly: Menu -> Config -> Graphics -> Low.
SAVES
Save at the glowing save points; the game also keeps an autosave after every scene and battle (Continue -> Autosave), which never replaces your own saves. In the browser, saves live in that browser: now and then, use "Saves" on the title screen to save them to a file (it also carries them to another browser or computer). Clearing your browser's site data deletes browser saves.
